Dusty Feet Ministries.org Mission Statement & What We Do:
Paradoxically, in it's simplicity, this is a very hard question to answer in simple terms. Perhaps a sample will suffice.
Primarily, the scriptures referenced on our Home Page are our directives - to "take care of the earth and animals". One other thing we do is help the helpless. How? Somebody may ask. During one Easter service, I was prompted to leave and drive to a very specific place. Arriving there, and in the drenching rain, were two men and a dog. Their sign read "Hungry". After giving them money and food that by chance happened to be in the car from our previous day shopping (including dog cookies), we returned to church.
So "what is the big deal about that..." some may say, "They are probably scamming...". Possibly. But it is not our call to make when the Holy Spirit gently tugs on our hearts.
That "prompting" at times, directs us to organizations that are in trouble and who need help - through our example. Often to teach them: "They have not because they ask not".
By The Way: Volunteering is a great "Ministry". In total, we have volunteered 35 years for agencies and organizations. Apostle Paul refers to this as "The Ministry of Helps".
Post Script-um: A Christian Ministry is not a job... Hmmm!
The 12 Commandments:Often: The first thing "bible scholars" and "lay-people" say to me when I talk with them about "animal rights" is, that "animals don't have rights - it says so in the Bible". That attitude is so very sad because they are so very wrong.
Because of that prevalent negative attitude especially from Christians, many dogs, cats, and other animals [creatures of God], continue to horribly suffer at the hands of humans.
Some time ago in Petaluma, CA., a "Christian" minister showed me a dog on a 6 foot chain in her back-yard 24/7 in violation of more humane leash laws in CA & TX. More importantly, what she was doing was against several of God's explicitly stated laws.
The first thing I would say to all preachers and churches is, "change your message" and get in accord with God's law. Next I would tell them to learn what God really wants from them - as God himself GAVE animals their RIGHTS.
Check this out...! In the Garden of Eden before Adam & Eve "sinned" (fell short of God's Glory), and while still in a state of "human perfection", Adam was personally given by God TWO directives... (Commandments). Because of Adam's perfection, none other was needed. It was not until 3,000 years later in man's history that he was given the next set of 10 Commandments. Specifically, THAT set of directives dealt with man and woman-kind's sinful nature.
So..., dealing with a perfect man and woman in a perfect world, God only dealt with them in the perfect way that He could. The FIRST Commandment that God gave to Adam was "take care of the planet Earth". The SECOND law (over everything else) that God gave Adam was (and this one is the biggie)..., "NAME AND TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS UNDER YOUR DOMINION".
These two very highest priority laws were given to mankind while he was still in an unqualified state of favor with God. These two directives were never revoked by God and yet, churches teach only the last TEN Commandments which deal only with mankind's evils, sins, shortcomings, and his abject behaviors: Which are easier to deal with to get money - than addressing suffering, pain, and inhumane treatment of the animals. Which by the way "might offend some donors".
As they do this, those people totally ignore and fail to put the proper perspective and correct emphasis on God's much higher laws about this EARTH and its ANIMALS. Because of this deliberately dismal failure by preachers and their churches to obey God's Directives, our planet earth and animals continue to suffer cruelly - all because of myopic self-induced ignorance, and blatantly foolish GREED for more money and personal prestige.
GET YOUR PREACHER to talk about animals instead of passing another collection plate. Or, and better yet, cajole, ask, or demand that your "pastor" pass the plate for just advancement of animal rights...! See what shallow minded and argumentatatative (*) objections he..., or even she..., will nervously smiling, comes up with.

"Nothing is more detestable to God than someone who does NOT want to hear". [Holy Bible]
What If...: No-one could "gainfully" do any work for anyone else. Or: No one person could ever "benefit" from the labor of another person. And, anyone taking the lead, like the Judges in the Bible, do so without pay. What would be the result of this "Perfect Law"?
This is fully documented in the Bible.
Missed Opportunities...: Every-body has something to contribute. By not including some or shunning those who "don't meet your social standard because they do not own a house or drive a new car", you are the one who looses...! For sure, you don't practice Christianity as the Bible teaches it. In fact, you are one of those "ravenous wolves who worm themselves into a congregation" that Jesus warned us against. Just as important, is the fact that you deeply hurt those people that you unjustly avoid. By doing that evil thing, you will never benefit from what he or she may have to offer you. His or her resources and vast skills.
The Bible condemns this behavior.
Lessons Learned...: Admonishment in the Scripture is "to always test the spirit of people". You can not do that if you selectively avoid someone.
Someone I am well acquainted with, has assets in excess of $3,000.000. Acknowledging that all things belong to God, those assets are dedicated to God.Continually "testing the spirit", to who is deserving he gives to, as God directs. So far, little has been given to anyone. Having owned many houses and much real estate, he now lives in a very nice small condo and drives an old car. From all the churches he has gone to for years, he has asked many "brothers and sisters in Christ" to his "home". Not one has returned for a second visit or invited him to theirs.
Asking God's Help...: Many people I know sobbing and in tears beg God to stave off foreclosure, for food, and a myriad of other needs and wants.
Everyone has heard the story of the flood a person got caught in. On his roof he begged God for deliverance. An empty rowboat drifted by, but the man wanted something better. A big tree passed, the man complained it was too slippery; a plank floated by. The man deemed it too small and he drowned. Later on he complained to God that He did not help him in time of need. God said: "I did! 3 times".
How ludicrous it is for anyone to not accept God's help, because they did not like the packaging help came in...
This reminds me of a song I learned in my childhood: ... What a friend we have in Jesus, ... Oh, what peace we forfeit - what needless pain we bear.
Caring For Animals...: Keep in mind that dogs are domesticated animals. With inclement weather, please bring them inside. They suffer much during bad weather. Be good to them, and as a true friend, they will always take care of you.
About Our Home Page...:
As Jesus commanded his disciples to "take nothing for your journey...", a Minister of the Gospel should always consider that all encompassing and guiding directive to his ministry. That is the symbolism of a camel and its rider walking the dusty trail...
Naturally allowing for geographic and cultural mores and morays.
The symbolism of the small lion cub keeping two ferocious Rhinos from harming the peacefully eating giraffe, is, that it only takes prayer to keep the forces of evil at bay. Daniel describes how even angels fight that battle.
At times I feel like that little lion cub.
Our Daily Message is: Be good to all Creatures and our planet Earth.
